EMPLOYMENT VERIFICATION
1. PURPOSE Associates may be requested to provide references for current or previous associates by outside parties. This policy provides guidance on how Stormtech responds to these requests. 2. SCOPE This policy applies to all Stormtech associates working in Canadian locations. 3. POLICY Associates should be aware legal liability may result when providing references or other personal information of current and past associates and requests for disclosure of such information should be addressed as follows: • In accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), any data or individual records of a personal and private nature will not be disclosed without a signed release from the associate. • For employment verification purposes, requests are recommended to be sent to People & Culture; however, both managers and People & Culture may provide a work reference for a current or past associate. − The Employment Verification Release Form must be completed by the requesting individual prior to a manager providing a work reference. − People & Culture will provide confirmation of the following employment details: o Hire date. o Roles worked and dates for those roles. o Last date of employment o No performance information shall be provided, nor details regarding remuneration. • All information inquiries from third parties (such as ICBC, financial institutions, legal counsel, etc.) should be forwarded to People & Culture. 4. RESPONSIBILITIES People & Culture is responsible for • Providing employment verification information and/or data to third parties in accordance with this policy and legislation, and providing guidance as required. Managers are responsible for Ensuring associates provide the Employment Verification Release Form prior to providing work references, and providing guidance to associates.
