Unauthorised Use The Company will not tolerate the use of the e-mail system for any of the following: • any message that could constitute bullying or harassment (e.g. on the grounds of sex, race or disability) • personal use • accessing pornography; and • downloading or distributing copyright information and/or any software available to the user. The use of the internet within the Company is encouraged for business purposes, as its appropriate use provides access to a wide range of useful information. Its inappropriate use, however, causes many problems, ranging from excessive costs to possible legal claims against the Company. Monitoring The Company reserves the absolute right to monitor employees' use of the internet (including any authorised personal use). Authorised Use Access to the internet is provided to employees for matters directly concerned with the business of the Company. Reasonable personal use of the internet is allowed outside working hours but the rules regarding unauthorised use (set out below) apply. Unauthorised Use The Company will not tolerate the use of the internet for any of the following: • accessing/downloading pornography or other illegal or obscene material • downloading software which has not been virus checked and approved by the Company. • accessing social networking sites during working hours (e.g. Facebook) unless for business purposes • downloading videos or any other content unless necessary in the course of business • on-line shopping or auctions • on-line gambling • streaming audio or video (e.g. on-line radio or TV) unless for business purposes • accessing any peer-to-peer file sharing websites or software; and Internet Policy
